The Holiday Season is a great time to spend having fun, resting & relaxing, plus sometimes it's the only time we get to see some of our friends and family. But we also hit the stores hard, along with every other shopper. Nothing will balance all the excessive eating better than all the walking from one sale to the next. But this is also a time for a lot of reckless or distracted driving, plus the icy roads and the extra tourists in town...
Which is why we wanted to remind everyone to try to stay calm and safe while faced with massive crowds of high-intensity shopping sprees, which lead to more traffic, and potential accidents. The last thing you need you want to add to your busy holidays is the need to file insurance claims. Know that the most common accidents of this season happen on the streets and in the parking lots. Rushing to get to the sales and still make it on time to the salon, the dry-cleaners and all the events, make auto accidents spike. And if bad weather, common during Colorado winters, is added to the mix this should be the season where we have to be extra careful to avoid being the victim of a car accident.
When you head out to the sales, take a minute to calm yourself. Take a few deep breaths and tell yourself just to go with the flow and enjoy the moment. If you get a lot of items for low prices, great. But, you don’t want to put yourself and others in danger by driving recklessly. Remember, there are going to be plenty of sales between now and the beginning of the year. And then again next year...
You know that there is going to be a lot of traffic, you know that there are going to be big crowds, you know that it is going to be hectic, so make sure to give yourself plenty of time to hit the stores you need. You may be able to keep your cool in traffic and at the shops, but there will be plenty of reckless and erratic drivers on the street. Giving yourself plenty of time and staying focused will help you avoid the worst this season traffic.
Take your time, be prepared and remember, the beauty of the season is to find time to rest, relax and enjoy the company of loved ones.
